For teachers, TAs, SENDCOs, family support workers, staff new to special schools, health and social care staff & parents or carers of young people with ADD or ADHD
This course will deliver:
- Greater knowledge of the causes and associated difficulties of ADHD
- Strategies to support pupils with ADHD in the classroom and across the school.
- Practical ideas for maximizing the potential of children with ADHD
- Knowledge of the strengths of pupils with ADHD and ideas for making the most of their skills.
- Opportunity to link with TADSS SLE team for further support and advice
Course tutors: from SEN Services Southwest
Tracey Foster has over 20 years’ experience in Education, working as a Teaching Assistant, Secondary Classroom Teacher and as SENCo in mainstream secondary and primary schools for over 10 years. She has a wealth of experience in managing the provision for a large number of students with SEN, as well as supporting students with Autism, Emotional and Social Difficulties and Learning Difficulties in the classroom. Tracey has also been an Advisor for Cornwall’s Dyslexia Service. She is a Specialist Assessor for Access Arrangements.
Sue Plechowicz has over 25-years experience in the Educational Sector, many of which have been spent in the area of Special Educational Needs. An experienced and dynamic Primary Assistant Headteacher and SENCo (NASENCO), Sue has a proven track record of outstanding practice in the classroom and working at Senior Leadership level to secure whole-school change and improvement. Sue has also been a college lecturer in Behavioural Studies, an Associate Literacy Consultant, an Advisor for Cornwall’s Dyslexia Service and is a published author.
Mel Barnet is a TADSS SLE, an experienced Outreach Teacher who has been providing support for young people and their staff in mainstream schools for over 4 years. She will be on hand at break times and lunch to chat to about opportunities for local advice on aspects of SEND delivery in the classroom.
