Autism? Attachment?  Strategies to Support pupils with Complex Needs
Research and Development Conference
11th March 2014

CPD 1Health professionals, social service representatives and educators gathered at KingstonCPD4 Maurward to hear Heather Moran deliver an in depth, often thought provoking view of how autism and attachment difficulties present themselves in young people.  An entertaining speaker, Heather drew both on her work as a clinical psychologist for Coventry CAMHS and personal experience as an adoptive parent of four children with attachment problems.

Some comments from participants…CPD5

“A real blessing to have the “parent” experience alongside the “professional” understanding.”

“Very interesting and informative course. Lots of excellent ideas to take back especially the grid to use when diagnosing autism in our multi-agency assessments.”

“Fantastic speaker, really engaging.  I have really gained some knowledge about the differences between ASD and attachment difficulties and can see how this will affect my work with children in my school.  Really useful! “

Many people expressed an interest in follow up training, support groups and sharing their knowledge and experience.  Watch this space for future events…..we will be in touch.
