TADSS Twilights

Experienced TADSS classroom practitioners in the two key areas of Autism and Sensory processing needs have worked together to develop training sessions in their area of expertise. The training aims to increase staff awareness, confidence and effectiveness and is best delivered as a whole school staff training or for large groups of staff (can be from more than one school) so that it supports embedding of best practice within the school culture.

 

AUTISTIC SPECTRUM DISORDER

¨ Understanding of how ASD impacts on aspects of pupils lives

¨ Consideration of the ways in which pupils with ASD learn best, advice and tips for the classroom

¨ Strategies to alleviate anxiety and thereby deal positively with behaviour issues

¨ Language, rewards and planning for support

¨ Working with the parents of pupils with ASD

¨ Problem solving

 

Being Sensory Aware and Responsive

An overview of the 7 areas of the sensory system

¨ Behaviours students may show if they have difficulties in any of these areas

¨ Ideas for strategies and resources, including examples of resources

¨ Suggestions for further research—books, websites and DVDs which may be helpful
